150 sanitation workers on strike at JLN Hospital in Ajmer: Demand for release of outstanding honorarium, situation worsened due to dirt in the hospital

Ajmer. 150 sanitation workers working in the division’s largest JLN hospital remained on strike for the second day on Tuesday. Earlier, the sanitation workers were protesting by tying black bands over their various demands including the release of pending honorarium. The employees have warned to continue the strike until their demands are met. Due to the strike of the sanitation workers, the cleaning system of the hospital has come to a standstill.

Due to the strike of the hospital’s sanitation workers, cleaning could not be done in various wards and operation theaters including the emergency unit. Due to the strike of the sanitation workers, the buckets of bio-medical waste remained full everywhere. Due to which the system has deteriorated.

The sanitation workers told that earlier the contract for cleaning was with Indore’s firm Pratham National Security Indore. This firm did not give the sanitation workers Rs 34 lakh 5024 of PF amount of 18 months and Rs 567504 of ESI.

The payment of the amount and arrears is pending at the increased rate of Rs 26 per day per person for 7 months from 1 January 23 to 31 July. Currently, the contract for cleaning in the hospital is with Believe Solution Services and New Palam Vihar Gurugram. This contract started from 1 August 2023. Arrears of this firm are also pending.
The cleaning staff said that during the optional system in 2014-15, the payment of one month and eight days of the cleaning staff is pending. The employees are adamant on coming to work only after the release of the outstanding honorarium.
