Jaipur/ Jodhpur. A two-day international conference and second Pandit Jugal Kishore Shukla International Journalism Award ceremony was organized under the joint aegis of Apex University and SAARC Journalist Forum India Chapter. The role of journalism in establishing peace and cooperation in South Asian countries was discussed in the ceremony. A manifesto was released on this occasion. It focused on peace and peace journalism in South Asia, positive news, reporters without borders. Indian chapter president Anirudh Sudhanshu and representatives from various states were present in the program along with international member of Indian chapter Smita Mishra. SAARC International President Raju Lama presided over the program. In the second edition of Pandit Jugal Kishore Shukla International Journalism Award started by SAARC Journalist Forum India Chapter since last year, journalist Sheikh Raees Ahmed of Jodhpur, Rajasthan was awarded the second International Jugal Kishore Shukla Journalism Award for journalism in regional language. For journalism in Sanskrit language, Apex University Vice Chancellor Prof. Somdev Shatanshu was awarded a special award. In the teaching category, Prof. Sanjeev Bhanawat, Prof. Vandana Pandey, Dr. Garima Srivastava, in the journalism category, Sayeed Arif of Hyderabad in Urdu language, Muhammad Yusufuddin Qadri in English language and Rahul Samantha Sri Lanka in foreign language category, (print) Arif Ansari Nepali language (electronic), Dipendra Prajapati (Nepali language) in print category were awarded with shawl and certificate.
More than 200 journalists, intellectuals and representatives from South Asian countries gathered in the conference. They presented the idea of regional peace cooperation, terrorism eradication and collective prosperity. There was also an in-depth discussion in the conference on the recent tragic incidents like Pahalgam and tribute was paid by observing two minutes of silence in the memory of the martyrs. In the conference organized by SAARC Journalist Forum India Chapter, Sri Lanka Chapter President Rahul Samant, members of various states of India Chapter Dr. Sumit Bakshi, Anil Sable of Jammu, Maharashtra Chapter, Ravindra Kharat, Nasiruddin Qadri of Hyderabad, Rafikul Rahman of Bangladesh, University Chairperson Dr. Ravi Juniwal etc. expressed their views. SAARC Journalist Forum India Chapter expressed gratitude to the University and program coordinator Dr. Garima Srivastava for the success of the program.
